Education
Education is often considered the foundation of economic wealth, social prosperity, and political stability. Preparing today's youth physically, mentally and socially for life beyond the classroom is challenging, especially in this rapidly changing global climate. In what has become an increasingly competititve environment, access to an affordable, quality education is essential.
There are two school districts primarily serving Holmes County, East and West Holmes and four additional districts serving much smaller student populations on the county border.

Whether providing a skilled workforce, industry specific training or access to world-class researchers, Wayne County's colleges and universities provide valuable resources to businesses. Founded in 1972, Wayne College is the only regional branch of The University of Akron and is authorized by the State of Ohio through the Ohio State Board of Regents to offer general education, including associate's degrees and baccalaureate-oriented preparation; technical education programs; and continuing education experiences for those who live in the College's service area of Wayne, Medina and Holmes counties.
The Wooster OARDC is establishing BioHio, a research park to facilitate the growth of companies taking advantage of OARDC linkages.

Kent State University - Tascarawas, County
Kent State Tuscarawas, located at 330 University Drive, NE, New Philadelphia, offers 19 associate degrees, seven bachelor's degrees and the Master of Technology Degree. A recently constructed Science and Advanced Technology Center provides 50,000-square-feet of laboratory and classroom space for science, nursing and workforce development.

College of Wooster
The College of Wooster is an independent liberal arts college, founded in 1866 and nationally recognized for an innovative curriculum that emphasizes independent learning. Each Wooster senior creates an original research project, written work, performance or exhibit of artwork, supported one-on-one by a faculty mentor. This Independent Study, or I.S., is the cornerstone of a Wooster education.
